⚠️ Please make a backup of your original .pet file before editing!
This editor allows you to view and edit the hidden personality gene values stored in your Petz .pet file. This does not change the expressed personality of your pet in-game, but rather what your pet will pass on to offspring.
Each gene set corresponds to one of the petz parents: Set 1 represents the mothers genetic contribution, while Set 2 reflects those of the father. Please note, the petz current personality values may not directly match the values seen in these sets. Instead, when breeding occurs, the offspring inherits a combination of these genetic values - typically falling somewhere between the mother's and father's values. For example, if the Liveliness value is 5 in Set 1 and 85 in Set 2, the offspring may inherit any value between, or including, 5 and 85. Something to be kept in mind while editing your petz!
After you have made your changes, click "Edit Petz File" to save your modified pet file. The new file will have _personalitygeneedit appended to the name to help avoid overwriting your original file.
⚠️ After saving the edited file, you must run it through PetzByte (by Reflet @ Yabiko) to recalculate the checksum. Otherwise, the file will not work in-game and will appear corrupt.
📢 If you plan to use these tools and adopt out edited Petz or the offspring of edited Petz, it is best practice to disclose that those Petz have been genexed or have genexed ancestry. This ensures full transparency for potential adopters who may prefer non-genexed lineage.
