⚠️ Please make a backup of your original .pet
file before editing!
This editor can be used to adjust the individual genetic values of a Petz 4 or 5 .pet
file. Each gene set corresponds to one of the petz parents: Set 1 represents the mothers genetic contribution, while Set 2 reflects those of the father.
The editor will read and display your Petz's existing values for you to review and modify. Use the reset button at the bottom of the page to restore the original values. Once satisfied with your changes, click "Edit Petz File" to save your updated file. The editor will automatically append _geneedit
to the file name to prevent overwriting your original file.
⚠️ After saving the edited file, you must run it through PetzByte (by Reflet @ Yabiko) to recalculate the checksum. Otherwise, the file will not work in-game and will appear corrupt.
You can verify your changes using Reflet's Genepoolz program, downloaded at the link above.
📢 If you plan to use these tools and adopt out edited Petz or the offspring of edited Petz, it is best practice to disclose that those Petz have been genexed or have genexed ancestry. This ensures full transparency for potential adopters who may prefer non-genexed lineage.
